Via their band, Delay Janas, Abraham Burns and Yamil Rodriguez aspired to create a diverse and eclectic sound for all people to connect with. Delay Janas, based in Miami, Florida has stayed true to its vision and forged strong connections with its fans. In the year since its conception, the response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and its audience continues to grow.
Abraham Burns, born in Miami, Florida, has used his music as an emotional outlet since his youth. Burns’ original guitar style always rips your attention away and captivates you. The sheer uniqueness of the melodies created are unlike any other. They carry you away while you listen in a state of bliss. The collaboration between guitarist/songwriter Abraham Burns and singer/lyricist Yamil Rodriguez started almost one year before Delay Janas was formalized as a band. Yamil Rodriguez was born at Fort Stewart Military Base, but raised in almost five states on the east coast and six different countries. His unique ability to find the most memorable and ear catching melodies is always apparent, creating music that grabs you.
Delay Janas’s objective was to create music to which many could easily relate. For months, songs were sculpted and dissected until perfection was reached. When all was finished, Robert Javier Verdaguer, a first generation Cuban – American, was recruited to play drums. Robert’s distinct blend of Latin based jazz and rock drumming helped to propel Delay Janas’s music further. Going through a slew of bass players, Delay Janas finally settled on Alex Laboy. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Alex has been living in Miami since he was only three.
Performing is always a priority for the band who easily ensnare the audience into their world. Total belief in Delay Janas’ music, angelic vocals, and melodies mixed with searing vibrant harmonies of guitar, shaking drums, and head bobbing bass, sets them apart from all others. Delay Janas will go far by inspiring others with their musical vision and they will not stop until everyone has had the opportunity to hear them.
